Macomber’s February e-Messenger (Our latest e-news)
Dear Partners and Friends,
Well, here in Texas we’ve had a nice mild winter. No snow and ice, and the daffodils are poking up and buds are on the fruit trees. We’re not complaining!
Many of you sent us Christmas cards, some wrote messages, and others sent gifts. Thank you so much. And we thank you for your faithful support for us in 2011; a few churches were able to give over and above their commitments. All of you are greatly appreciated for your prayers and giving!
Martha’s ministry continues every day as she represents the educational organization in various settings. She is chairing a steering committee for an inter-agency meeting to discuss important topics related to education for the children whose parents serve overseas. She also handles U.S. financial matters as that is needed to continue ministries across Asia.
Dave’s ministry has had a major change. It became clear in the final months of 2011, that while greatly appreciated and productive, his ministry at the International Baptist Church Houston was drawing to an end. This was not an easy decision, as this ministry gave Dave much joy and fulfillment. But Dave felt confident of God’s direction.
After consultation with mission leaders and Dave’s lifelong mentor, Dave is now visiting Filipino churches in the metroDallas region, much closer to our home than Houston. Already God has led him to several churches and Filipino church leaders who are interested in linking with him. These are churches with lively services and godly pastors, but struggling with discipleship and training of their leaders and members. This vital step in church planting is where Dave has been serving the Filipino church. Dave’s overall goal is for Filipino churches to send some of their own as missionaries back to Asia.
We are only three years from retirement age, and Dave is passionate about finishing his course well, in service to the Filipino community which he loves so much. Please stand with us now in fervent prayer for God’s guidance. Please remember our financial needs as our support level is down to 89%. Perhaps some could even make a one-time donation to our ministry account, currently in deficit (www.worldventure.com). We need funds so that we can plan a springtime visit to some of our northeast supporting churches. In any case, God will surely bless your prayers for us. 2 Corinthians 1:11.
