Our Purpose: Why do we exist?

“We exist to make Disciples of Jesus Christ”

This purpose statement flows out of our Lord’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). “to Make Christ Known” means living out the Great Commission. This difference is the heartbeat of our church. The outworking of the Great Commission can be broken down into three applications: Connecting, Nurturing, and Mobilizing.
  • Connecting people to God through Jesus Christ involves building trusting, redemptive relationships with those who have not recognized Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Nurturing people in their faith is the process of growing and building up believers in Christ.
  • Mobilizing people to serve Christ through ministering to others involves equipping and training. This person is developed to be an active participant in ministry.
Breaking down the Great Commission into these three applications is helping First Baptist Church to bring Jesus into peoples’ lives whatever their individual level of spiritual interest or need.

Our Ministry Goals: What do we live by?

We will engage our community and beyond for God by:
  • Exalting the Savior through worship.
  • Explaining the Scriptures through preaching.
  • Encouraging the saints through fellowship.
  • Equipping the servants through discipleship.
  • Enlisting new souls through evangelism.
  • Empowered by the Spirit through prayer.
