Pastor Zac Stephenson
I live in South Portland with my wife Elizabeth and our two sons — Josiah and Asher. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my family. I love cooking, reading, hockey, and ice cream. I am also an avid drinker of coffee. I am from Birmingham, AL, which is where I met Elizabeth when we were freshman in high school. We were married in 2010, had Josiah in 2015 and Asher in 2018.
I have my B.A. in Christian ministry from Leavell College. I did some of my graduate work at Beeson Divinity School, and will soon (December 2019) have my Master’s of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
I love Jesus, His church, and people.
Interim Pastor Dr. Peter Hasbrouck
My wife, Caryn, and I have been members of First Baptist Church since 1999 when we returned from ministry in Ecuador. I was born and raised in NH and was saved through the Sunday School ministry of my church. From my Junior High years, I sensed God’s calling to ministry, and so I attended Moody Bible Institute to study missions and Christian education.
Caryn (from Wisconsin) and I met at Moody and were married in 1985. God led us to minister in Ecuador with Avant Ministries where we served in Theological Education in the cities of Latacunga and Quito.
When we sensed it was time for us to leave Ecuador God, brought us to New England Bible College in 1999. I served as a full-time professor and became the Academic Dean in 2005. Caryn served briefly at NEBC, then began to teach Spanish at the Greater Portland Christian School.
The closure of the college in 2014 brought another change in direction. God has allowed me the privilege of completing a Ph.D. in Religion from Boston University and continuing to minister to young adults through a home Bible study called the Rabble.
God has also been leading me away from academia, toward pastoral ministry. From October 2015 until July 2016 I was privileged to serve as part-time interim pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Saco.
Now I’m honored to serve our church family as Interim Pastor. Send me an email so we can arrange to have coffee together. I’d love to hear how God is leading you. Jesus is building His church, and we’d love to have you join us as we seek to follow Him together here in South Portland, Maine.

I am originally from Auburn, ME. I became acquainted with FBC while studying at New England Bible College, where I met my wife Emmalie. We both graduated in 2013 and have made South Portland, and FBC our home since we got married in 2011. We have the joy of leading the kids and teen ministries here and I lead the singing on Sunday mornings. We love sharing God's Word and wisdom with the kids here and are grateful for this opportunity. In addition being home with our son Finnley, Emmalie serves as the Administrative Assistant.
In addition to teaching and leading singing, I enjoy strategic board games, hiking (although less often than I would like) and reading.
